Angels Sanguine Army Showcase

Back in August of 2011, I started on an army commission for a friend/local player.  

I finished up at the end of February; all told, the army is somewhere around 3000 points.  I'll jump right into the pictures, which I borrowed from BoLS, as you can tell from the logo.  Thanks to Bigred for taking the pictures!

The Stormravens were each painted with a particular purpose - The black one dedicated to carrying the army's Death Company, and the standard one to carry any of the other units in the army (though he usually runs an Assault Terminator squad, Librarian & Sanguinary Priest, with the Death Company Dreadnought riding shotgun).  Both are fully magnetized, so all weapon options (including the Hurricane Bolter sponsons) can be switched in.

The 4 HQ's of the army, allowing him some interchangeability with his list - Astorath & Mephiston are stock, the Reclusiarch is a Jump Pack Chaplain with the JP removed and an Inferno Pistol.  The Librarian is a kitbash made up from a Sanguinary Guard, some misc bits and a force weapon from the Grey Knights box.  For closer photos of Astorath, Mephiston & the Librarian, visit my CMON gallery.

The pair of Baal Predators are fully magnetized, allowing them to be switched between any loadout with either a linked Assault Cannon or Flamestorm Cannon & sponson Heavy Flamers or Heavy Bolters.

Another notable conversion are the scout heads, which are from Puppetswar.

Angels Sanguine Snipers

This unit rounds out my current commission I've been working on, just in time for me to pick up another client's project on Sunday.  The cloaks were an interesting experiment that ended up turning out well;  it's too bad Space Wolf Scouts can't have camo cloaks, or I'd use the technique on my own army!


My only reservation is the heads;  fluff-wise, Angels Sanguine marines never show their faces to those outside the chapter.  But maybe with the cloaks and the fact that they're snipers, no one ever really sees them anyway? ;)

Happy weekend everyone! I'm looking forward to my tournament; I managed to fit 5 (almost 6) Twin-linked Lascannons into a 1250 point army, so I'm curious to see how bad it tanks my spotsmanship score!

WIP Log

Today, I've got  pics of a few things on my work table.  First up, I finished the first 5 of the Sniper Scout Squad.  I've got 5 more on the work bench, and that will more or less finish up the army.  (I have a trio of Landspeeders to paint for the army, but that won't happen until early summer)

Next up is a little something I'm working on for myself.  I hang out in the SW forum on the Bolter and Chainsword, so when the painting vows came around again I put this in, in the hopes that I'd be motivated to get another model done for my own army.

So far, the armor is done, the base is ready for snow and I've based the animal pelts, cables, and armor joints.  I'm keeping him simple for an HQ unit, since he spends so much time sitting in a Land Raider.

Angels Sanguine Scouts

I'm in the midst of rounding out the Angels Sanguine commission before I jump into a number of different projects for the Spring/Summer.


I've got some completed shots of the first batch of scouts - 2nd squad, 10th Company, as well as a WIP photo of the Camo Cloaks for the 6th squad, 10th Company Sniper unit.  I went with an Autumn/Rocky scheme for the cloaks, sticking to the colors I used for the basework across the force.  It was done simply by sponging the colors onto the based/washed cloak.

A boy and his blog

I've finally started this blog as a means to consolidate my hobby activities.  I frequent a number of boards, and keeping up with them all every time I paint a new model, discover a painting technique I want to share, or make a modelling tutorial can be quite exhausting.

Over time, I hope to build this into an extensive and diverse list of articles covering painting, modeling, and gaming tactics/ army lists for whatever I might be dabbling in at the time.

For now, I'll leave you with my most recent model, an Angels Sanguine Librarian, painted as part of an Angels Sanguine army commission I'm on the verge of completing.  The full army showcase will come in a future post.
